This folder contains a working draft of an extensible dispatcher based on the
modell-view-controller design pattern. 

Further information and manuals can be found in the subfolder "doc".

Well, let me think about it. That's completly bullshit. It should be:

This foler contains Wombat Web Bench - or at least Wombat how far it is.  Wombat
is far from completion and the further it get developed, the more ideas to
expand it pop up... 

On the other hand Wombat is complete. It already has more features I ever
dreamed of. It is tested, runs out of the box and comes with a powerful web
administration interface and CMS.

However Wombat was and is meant to be a framework for rapid web site
development. As such, it is based on many design pattern. Therefore it may be
useeful as an educational example. Still, in the beginning - right after genesis
- the purpose of Wombat was to build a small framwork for my private travel
web site gERD Down Under (http://oz.exit0.net). Even if it is a private site, I
choose to steal some ideas from my friends (Stephan and Sebastian), mix them
with my own - et voila, this wonderful site was born. OK, the beautiful graphics
are made by Sebastian...

At this point, the framework was very simple and named ozController. Actually,
there were only very few features - just what I needed to run my site. Then my
plane took off and I arrived in Australia. Down Under I saw that there is no
need to "control OZ" and I stopped developing the framework. Actually, I
stopped, because it worked well and the beaches were just to nice. 

A few month later - in August 2004 - I joined a web design company in Brisbane.
I worked there for about three month. After a while, I remembered the
"ozController" and changed some bits and pieces. The reason was, that I wanted
to show it to my collegues. I just wanted to show how I do stuff and where the
advantages of such an object oriented framework might be. During that time
Wombat grew a lot. Many nights I was sitting on the deck of our small
Queenslander house, sharing the warm summer nights with possums while punching
PHP into my laptop.

Then I went ot Coober Pedy and accidently got hired as a web developer for a
single project. At that time I lived in a cosy dugout and implemented a big
share of the web administration interface.

Back home I'm still improving Wombat, fixing bugs and try to comquer Wombat
startes to conquer the world. Besides some oter major things, multi-language
support was added and a few more sites using the Wombat framework were launched. 

As most of those sites were private projects and I'll never earn any money by
selling this framework, I decided to make it open source. 

I know that there are many other (open source) frameworks and CMS out there. But
I also know, it has its advantages and I'm looking forward to hear some user's
response.
